“The Pearl Royale’s decadence is symbolic of how I value the game itself. I love how chess brings people together from all societies, cultures, and backgrounds. Win lose or draw, we shake hands to show our respect.” - Colin Burn
A Masterpiece
The Pearl Royale stands as one of the world’s finest jewelry artworks ever created. This masterpiece is hailed as the most valuable and opulent chess set in the world and limited to only three editions. The artwork is adorned with 513 carats of the finest GIA certified diamonds, AAA Ceylon blue sapphires, lustrous South Sea pearls; each edition is hallmarked, numbered, and authenticated by the artist.
The underside of each piece is intricately designed with channel set fine diamonds and masterfully polished to glide smoothly across the crystal glass and diamond embellished board.
Grand Master Fabiano Caruana became the first person in history to play on the Pearl Royale. Joining Caruana was Grand Master Robert Hess and International Master Danny Rensch. These legendary players used the Pearl Royale to predict and discuss Carlson’s first moves in Round 6 of the FIDE World Championship.
International Master and Chess.com Commentary Anchor, Danny Rensch interviewed Colin Burn to discuss his inspiration and path to making the Pearl Royale and what the game of chess means to the artist. Watch this interview exclusive from Chess.com’s coverage of the FIDE World Championship.
“It all began with the dream of creating the most luxurious chess set in the world and to have the world’s Grand Masters compete upon it. I am genuinely humbled to see this dream become a reality.”
